MCM Partners and Cellular South joined for the first annual Mississippi Children's Educational Fair (MCEF) April 1-5, 2008 at the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum. MCEF kicked off with the "Come Be A Kid Again" Preview Party on April 1 7:00pm – 10:00pm. This evening of music, good food, fellowship, and adventure let adults get a true preview of the exhibits that the children would experience over the next three days.
April 2-4, MCEF opened to 5th grade students from Levels I-III schools across Mississippi. Students had a fun, action-packed experience with hands-on interactive exhibits. A wide variety of career opportunities were showcased, focusing on the school subjects that will help students acquire the needed skills to succeed in those careers.
MCEF gave children a glimpse of what the Mississippi Children’s Museum will offer them: Mississippi Heritage, The Arts, Health, Literacy, and The World at Work. They were introduced to “Mississippi Heroes” – Mississippians who have achieved great things.
On Saturday, April 5, MCEF featured career exhibits and a special exhibit area for high school students focusing on colleges and other extended education opportunities. MCEF concluded with a fantastic Youth Ambassadors Concert at Smith-Wills Stadium featuring Colour Revolt!
