Summer Camp
Camps run from 9a.m. – 3p.m.
Museum Members ONLY
Children Ages 5-10
WHERE? – Where do the Summer Camps happen? Summer Camps at MCM will occur mainly in the museum Education Center, utilizing the museum for Museum Exploration and pre-paid lunch time only.
WHY? – Why choose the Mississippi Children’s Museum for your child’s summer camp? Choose us because we are an exciting, educational and engaging environment for children to create, explore and grow!
COST:
- You MUST be a Museum member to book a summer camp.
- Camps Fees are $175 a week.
- Camp is for children 5-10 years of age
- Before Care (from 7:45 a.m. – 9 a.m.) can be purchased for $5/day.
- After Care (from 3:15 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.) can be purchased for $10/day and includes an afternoon snack.
- For every minute after 5 p.m. that your child is left, we will charge a fee of $1 a minute.
Our Summer Camp fees include:
- Camp registration for the week
- Camp t-shirt (applicable for summer camps only)
- A morning snack
- Lunch is NOT included in the cost of camp, however you may send your child with $5.00 Tuesday-Friday to purchase lunch in the Museum’s Red Rocket Café or you may bring a brown-bag lunch
Camp weekly theme descriptions:
- June 11-15: Kitchen Chemistry Camp – Spend a week as a mad scientist! Learn about chemical reactions and make a few of your own using household ingredients. Make Oobleck, volcanoes, ice cream, soda pop geysers, and elephant toothpaste. Come and learn the scientific principles behind your creations!
- June 18-22: Mission to Imagination Camp -Blast off! It is time for summer fun! Learn all about the solar system, see what it is like to be an astronaut, build your own rockets, and you may even meet some creatures that live in outer space.
- June 25-29: Globe Trekkers Camp – Have you ever wondered what it would be like to visit another country? Well, this is the camp for you! Visit countries around the world in one week! Explore the art, cooking and cultural customs of many different continents.
- July 9-13: Where the Wild Things Are! Camp – Be your own explorer! Learn all about forests, jungles, deserts, and far away places. Come experience strange and exciting animals from many different areas through hands on activities, exploration, storytelling and more. Be prepared- It will be a wild and crazy week!
- July 16-20: Express Yourself Camp – This camp is for our artists! Come ready to create. We are going to create pottery, music, paint self-portraits, and learn about famous artists from Mississippi. This week is all about being yourself and showing others what it means to be unique. **THE EXPRESS YOURSELF CAMP IS FULL**
- July 23-27: Monster Exploration – Are monsters real? Are they fake? Have you ever wanted to find out what really lives under your bed? Monsters come in all shapes and sizes. We are going to discover and explore the wacky world of monsters through storytelling and investigation. This is the time for each and every child to share stories and adventures with their favorite monster.
Cancellation Policy:
- 30 days before the start date of camp, you may receive 100% refund upon cancellation
- 30-15 days before the start date of camp, you may receive 50% refund
- After 15 days, no refund will be given
Lunch:
We will offer a $5.00/day boxed lunch option through our Museum Café on Tuesday-Friday, however you are also allowed to bring brown bag lunch for your campers.
