The second annual Ignite the Night event is set to kick off with an exciting 1920s theme at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11.  This year’s attendees can expect an incredible evening full of alluring, prohibition-style excitement and special surprises. The adults-only event will feature a variety of food, a whiskey bar and lots of exciting activities that give a nod to this noteworthy period in American history.

The event will feature 20s era jazz music by sultry singer, Lisa Palmer, circus entertainment such as a fortuneteller and period-style gaming – complete with a speakeasy! Plans for the evening also include the appearance of a magician, a silent film cameo and a cotton candy machine. People attending the event should dress to explore the museum and feel free to accent causal attire with 20s flair.

This year’s committee, co-chaired by Kelly Joyner and Charlotte Estes, is comprised of eleven MCM Partners members who are all bursting with creative energy and enthusiasm. “I’ve been blown away with the creativity of this year’s planning committee and participating vendors. We’re going with a theme that is visually inspired by the very popular television series, Boardwalk Empire and by movies like Water for Elephants,” said Joyner. “We anticipate that, much like the children who visit the museum, adults will truly feel that their imaginations are captive to a world of color and excitement. I can’t wait to see the faces of the guests when they enter the museum!”

“We see this event as an opportunity to challenge the community to match the 100,000 dollars raised at last year’s event, and we’re off to a great start. Lisa Bemis, our sponsorship chair, has exceeded our initial corporate sponsorship goal by 10,000 dollars,” says Estes.

In addition to corporate sponsorships the event will raise money through 100-dollar general admission ticket sales and through the sale of thoughtfully themed silent auction packages. “One example of this committee’s ability to think outside of the box is the silent auction. Rather than the usual table filled with lots of miscellaneous items on which to bid, this year’s committee has selected to stick to themes and create four large ticket silent auction items,” says Partners President Stephanie Garriga.

Silent auction package themes will range from an over-the-top child’s birthday party package, good for an exclusive, all night party at the museum to robust tailgating, gaming and indulgence packages.

Event is scheduled to run from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m.  And remember… don’t tell the kids! Tickets will be available at the door.
