ABC Come Play with Me

 Wednesdays at 10:00 AM

This program is designed for infants, toddlers and their caregivers. Join us Wednesday mornings at 10:00 AM. Start your morning with a stretch, a song, a story and an art project! The focus of our toddler time is to learn the ABC’s, 123’s, how to use the 5 senses to discover the world around them. Learn how to engage your toddler and show them easy, age-appropriate activities at the museum and at home to prepare them for pre-school, while allowing them to have creative discovery and interaction with other toddlers.

Farm Bureau Spotlight

 Fridays at 3:30 PM

Join us Farm Bureau Spotlight every Friday at 3:30 PM. for this weekly program designed to educate visitors on the broad industry of agriculture, the many careers that deal with it, and how important it is in day-to-day operations in our lives through inquiry-based learning. Each week we emphasize a different aspect of agriculture, such as beekeeping, growing produce, the chemistry of food, veterinary medicine, farming, irrigation, the water cycle, forestry, fishing and much more.

Enjoy the yummy results of a healthy snack! Join us Thursdays at 3:30 PM. at the Red Rocket Café for Fueled for Adventure! Sponsored by St. Dominic Health Services, focuses on nutritious food and healthy choices.

This summer, Fueled for Adventure is having special guest chefs to share childhood memories and recipes! Download the form to learn more and submit to MCM’s Programs Manager by May 22nd to be featured in June and July!

The Mississippi Children’s Museum has been designated as a Let’s Move Museum by First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move Initiative because of its focus on interactive exhibits and programs that help young people make healthy food choices and be physically active.

Know to Grow

 Saturdays at 10:00 AM

Starting March 7, 2015, children can join us in the Literacy Garden for our new Know to Grow program every Saturday at 10:00 AM. Know to Grow is a cross-disciplinary program incorporating MCM’s Science, Technology, Engineering  and Math (STEM), Literacy and Health initiatives.  Each week, children will gather to hear a garden-related story and participate in a hands-on gardening activity. Know to Grow will provide a fun forum for children to make connections between reading, science and aspects of the natural world.

Question It? Discover It!

 Once a month from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Check MCM’s calendar for each month’s Question It? Discover It! (QI?DI!) Saturdays program designed to provide children and families with opportunities to learn about healthy habits through fun, engaging activities, with the support and guidance of medical professionals. The QI?DI! Saturday program is sponsored by Children’s of Mississippi, a part of the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Ready to Roar Reading Time

  Every Tuesday at 10:00 AM

Ready to Roar Reading Time occurs every Tuesday at 10:00 AM in the Between the Lions exhibit. Each week we focus on books that begin with our letter of the month. The goal is to promote a love of reading and bring books to life for our young visitors. In addition, we expose our young visitors to many of the classic, great children’s literature and illustrations, and spark some creativity within the children themselves.

Shake Out the Sillies

 Third Wednesday of each month
at 11:00 AM

Healthy FUN is one of MCM’s biggest initiatives. Come Shake out the Sillies with us every third Wednesday of each month at 11:00 AM. Children participate in yoga, soccer play, tumbling and more  during this educational fitness experience! Your child will be better prepared to live an active healthful lifestyle. Shake Out the Sillies program is sponsored by River Oaks Hospital.

Tinker with Tuesday

 Third Tuesday of every month
at 3:30 PM

Tinker with Tuesday is our hands-on program focusing on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Tinker with Tuesday is held on the third Tuesday of every month beginning at 3:30 PM. Get your science on this exciting and engaging program that introduces children to concepts of scientific phenomena that they will need to excel in STEM subjects in school!
